What is different on M6 (21)?

All other aspects are unchanged.
Why is price higher?
This is due to mix of multiple reasons. Higher price of ESS DAC chips, especially given current market situation, different exchange rate between USD and RMB, new certifications needed for M6 (21) and few smaller things.
M6 (21) will support MQA, can this be added to original M6?
No, it’s not possible. MQA certification is tied to the M6 (21) and its analogue circuit, it can’t be used for original M6.

M6 (21) uses two ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chips, the flagship model of ESS’ mobile DAC line, with an integrated asynchronous sampling rate conversion and a THD compensation, for even better Hi-Fi performance. These DACs provide a beautifully clean and neutral sound, with a very impressive measurements.
To match the new ESS DAC chips, we designed a new amplifier circuit, based around OPA2211 acting as a low-pass filter, in combination with proven ADI AD8397.

Every component matters
Japanese ELNA Silmic II capacitors
High grade Silmic II capacitors were developed specifically for use in audio products and you can often find them in high-end Hi-Fi machines. To assure premium sound quality of M6, it uses these Silmic II capacitors, four of them in total.
Panasonic Tantalum-Polymer
Tantalum-Polymer capacitors, while more expensive and harder to utilize properly than their simpler counterparts, offer many important characteristics that are crucial for smooth sound tuning of Shanling products.
Noise Free Output
Zero Hiss By using a specially adapted low-noise high-current Low-dropout regulator, we managed to control overall levels of a background noise, keeping the sound clear and without any unwanted noise or hiss. Ideal for even the most sensitive earphones.
