Description
Ondine
Fascinated by receptacles, Pierre Charpin enjoys how they mysteriously conceal their
contents from the eye. He designed a ribbed profile for an orange container topped by
a flat red cover that can be used as a small tray. The shape of the Ondine expresses
the production technique used to make it: the spin-forming of sheet metal. The series
of grooves decorating the container and top is the result of precision work whereby the
artisan’s arm strength guides the metal against the die with a tool, replicating the die’s
shape and creating the object’s volume.
